Editor's note: this restaurant closed on February 10th 2018.

Galvins has simple but pleasant bistro décor. Real bistro food too – fish soup was served with croutons and aioli, and was nicely made, with pleasant flavour. It could have been a little thicker in texture for my liking, but still it was fine (13/20). A slice terrine of rabbit pate had good seasoning and flavour (14/20). My main course of chicken with peas had pleasantly cooked chicken that lacked any great flavour, served with pleasant petit pois and some simple cooking juices as well a few root vegetables (14/20). Valrhona chocolate “delice” was essentially a rectangular slab of chocolate topped with a little scoop of chocolate ice cream (14/20). The chocolate was of good quality though the dish lacked any great interest (14/20). Service was fine. Overall it was a pleasant experience, but was hardly cheap given the pretty basic food being served.
