My previous visit had been at lunch, whereas this dinner service was frenetic, with every table taken and tables being turned all around us. The tables are tightly packed, though noise levels were tolerable despite the bustle.

Focaccia is made in-house and was very good, cooked in the pizza oven and having lovely texture (13/20). Incidentally, although it is listed amongst the starters and nibbles, the focaccia arrives as a large disc, almost as big as one of the pizzas, so bear this in mind when ordering. It would be enough to share between, well, quite a lot of people.

Tonight I had the “Dante” pizza, which had tomato, mozzarella, tuna, red chilli, olives, oregano and fresh basil leaves. Just as at my previous visit, the base had excellent, supple texture (13/20). This was a very busy service and the waiters seemed fairly harried, but it was all friendly enough, with owner Izabela Szypulska directing the front of house operations personally. The bill came to £21 a head with beer to drink. This visit confirms my opinion that this is as good as any pizza in the capital.

In March a second branch opened in Hanwell, at 217 Uxbridge Road W7 3TH - with phone number 020 8567 9005. I will pop along and try this in due course.
