Quilon is a long-established restaurant in St James. It has a Michelin star, serving mostly south Indian food, with dishes from Kerala and elsewhere in the region. This was an excellent meal, and slightly better than I recall from my last visit many years ago. It is not a cheap place, but the décor is smart and the service was good.

Amaya is another Michelin-starred Indian restaurant, this one in Belgravia. The smart décor reflects the location, and there is a semi open kitchen. The cooking here has always been reliable, and we enjoyed some good dishes, including black pepper chicken tikka and raan, which I have rarely seen in the UK.
