From Mayfair to Chiswck

Chez Rose is the relatively casual sister of two-star Michelin Row on 5. As one might expect from Spencer Metzger, the standard of cooking here was very high, even in this more casual brasserie format. This for me was strong one star Michelin cooking at a fair price for Mayfair. I am sure it will be very successful.

Dusra is the replacement for the long-established Annapurna on the Chiswick High Road. The latter had barely changed since the 1970s, so I was hoping for something a bit more interesting. The new owners also run the Thames Tandoori, which I used to go to when I was working nearby. Dusra is adequate as a local restaurant, but the standard of Indian cooking has moved on these days, so Dusra feels a bit stuck in the past. I’ll stick to west London stalwarts like Delhi Social and Black Salt.
